TREND: THE NUDE LIP
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia, held in Sydney last month, was a sea of nude lips in an ocean of smoky eyes. The nude lip is a great look when teamed with intense eye make-up, but works just as well worn on its own. Our favourite lipsticks this week come in the form of the much-loved and easy-to-use chubby stick.

This week, I try ... an infrared facial treatment
THE LOWDOWN Melanie Grant is famous for her facials and has a celebrity client list that includes Jessica Gomes and Lara Bingle. I'm here to try her signature treatment, #GettingReady. This can be a one-shot or a series of procedures. She starts with a deep cleanse, then a diamond microdermabrasion that deeply exfoliates, polishes and buffs. Next step is a corrective hydrating booster, and the finishing touch is the infrared Omnilux Revive Light Therapy. Melanie places the Omnilux machine as close to my face as possible. I keep my eyes firmly shut (I've decided not to wear goggles, as Melanie says the light is really effective on the eye area). While the light works for 20 minutes, Melanie gives me a hand massage. The intense infrared light helps reduce fine lines, boost collagen and improve skin texture. The finishing touch is a moisturiser with sunscreen.

PAIN FACTOR The intensity of the light emitted by the Omnilux machine is a jolt, but after 30 seconds I adjust and relax.
DOWNTIME One hour. If you have a big event to attend it's best to allow 24 hours for your skin to settle.
RESULTS The next day my skin is glowing, clear and plumped. I decide to sign up for a series of treatments.

How can you get the best result from your hair conditioner?
"People don't remove enough moisture before applying conditioner. If hair is full of water, conditioner can't penetrate. So ring your hair out or, even better, use a chamois to absorb as much water as possible. This gives your conditioner the best possible chance of achieving optimal results."
