To mark Equal Pay Day, MTV created a wage gap clock as part of a nationwide protest of the gender pay gap. It is a physical clock that chimes at 3:20 pm to signify that women, on average, are paid only 79 per cent of what men are paid annually. Their day should therefore only be 79 per cent as long. MTV plans to distribute the clock to influencers, politicians and those attending the MTV 2016 music awards.
