Daily Life editor Sarah Oakes.
Welcome to Daily Life,
A smart and irreverent take on the news designed specifically for women. Please come in, click around and feel free to leave your browser open on our homepage for the next fortnight or so.
Each day we'll round up the very best writers from within and outside the Fairfax family to give you the best feature stories, opinion pieces, picture galleries and video content on the hot topics of the day.
Our team of brilliant, female-dominated contributors include; Julia Baird, Sarah MacDonald, token-male Dominic Knight, Kerri Sackville, Clem Bastow and Jacqueline Maley as well as a host of other journalists, authors, writers and stylists who will all pitch in each week.
The site has lots of great features I hope you'll explore including long and short form video and online shopping via Shopstyle. You’ll find all the great stories from Sunday Life here each week and, as a bonus, our content will also have a presence on The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age iPad Apps each day.
Many people compare the launch of a big, new product they are sending out to the public as "their baby". Admittedly I've used that cliché a few times myself lately. Though after last months arrival of Beyonce and Jay-Z's little girl boasted a tribute song featuring her first noises, a dedicated Tumblr of professional pictures and a post-birth appearance by Beyonce that included make-up and accessories referencing the babies name - the pressure of that title seemed a bit much.
So, while our limited vocal skills and personal wealth mean this launch is lower on fan fare than the average celebrity baby announcement we are none-the-less extremely excited about its arrival and passionate about its contributors, content and building a community of like-minded women to call our site home. I hope it will be a place where we can have robust (and respectful) debate about all of the many and varied issues of the day.

Really looking forward to you joining us each day,
Sarah and the Daily Life team
