Remember Choupette? The cat slash muse slash 'kept woman' of Karl Lagerfeld who had her own ipad? Well, Choupette has been doing press, or rather, her owner Karl Lagerfeld has.
Speaking to US Harper's Bazaar for their September issue, Lagerfeld explained a little bit about his kitty.
On her eating habits: "She does in the kitchen and sits in front of the food. She doesn't like to eat on the floor, so I have to put the food on the table. Her dishes are by Goyard. She has one for water, one for her little croquette, and one for her pate. You have to serve everything, and she makes a choice."
When asked if Choupette scratches or has claws: "Yes, the doctor does her manicure. She hates when we do it ourselves. The only time she makes a scandal is then."
Does she meow a lot, or is she a purrer? "No, no no – everything is done with the eyes. She knows exactly what she wants."
The cat who knows exactly what she wants also deigned to do an interview with i-D online. Her pet hates? Water and getting wet, apparently. This is kind of deflating we have to say. We’d hoped her pet hates might be something a little less pedestrian. Although she does enjoy antique lace, shopping (bags) and of course, her beloved ipad.
But it wasn’t all disappointing -
i-D asked the question, What are her favourite things to do in her free time? Which we have to say we love as it implies that Mme. Choupette also spends time working. Perhaps she does? It looks as if she spends a lot of her day modeling for sketches.
We digress. Here is Choupette’s answer, via her owner, King Karl
[Choupette loves] … Sleeping, hiding, running and jumping like mad around the house. Chasing big fleas in her private garden and making it difficult for me work by jumping on the paper. She loves to destroy paper, that is what she loves to do the most and also driving her beloved maids (Francoise and Marjorie) crazy. With me she is sweet and calm.
Okay. Before we wrap this up we’d just like to go over a few things here
