The diagonal manicure
Just when we thought we'd seen every nail art creation imaginable, we discover this: the diagonal manicure. Moving on from winter's testing ombré nail craze (featuring shaded colour), it's now all about painting bold tips on an angle for a fresh take on the classic French manicure. Try your hand at creating the look at home - and make like the models at Paris Fashion Week - by prepping the nails with a super-glossy nude varnish (we like OPI Nail Lacquer in Samoan Sand, $20). Once the base colour is dry, it's time to tackle the tips. For the perfect diagonal, the experts use scotch tape (it's not as sticky as regular tape, so it won't peel away the varnish). Place it from the top left-hand corner of the nail across to the bottom right-hand corner, before painting the tips a bold orange, raspberry-pink or wine shade for impact. When tips are dry, gently peel away at the tape before sealing the deal with a layer of top coat. Once you've got the technique down, you'll realise adding a bold tip is the perfect way to stretch an extra day or two out of a professional manicure that's starting to chip.
