Type 1 diabetes is a lifelong auto-immune disease that usually occurs in children although it can be diagonised at any age. It is one of the most common chronic diseases in children.

A Coalition government would give $7 million a year for five years for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Clinical Research Network to fund extra patient trials locally and overseas and take a nationwide approach to diabetes research.
