Remember high school French class, how you'd stare out the window thinking of dudes in striped shirts and Euro beards, daydreaming about dancing like Anna Karina in a tight mod jumper in a Parisian diner like that scene in Bande A Part, chirping up with the occasional "Uh, le petit pois?" whenever the teacher angrily pointed at you, snapping you out of your Gallic reverie?
Yeah, you'll probably wish you'd paid more attention right now.
Here's the first trailer for the upcoming animated film The Little Prince, based on the cult kids' book/philosophical tome/allegory machine by Antoine De Saint-Exupery. It is beautiful and it is lovely, even though you probably won't be able to understand un merde word 'cause it's entirely in French.
The film - directed by Mark Osborne (The Spongebob Squarepants Movie, Kung Fu Panda) and featuring the all-star vocal talents of Mackenzie Foy, Rachel McAdams, James Franco, Marion Cotillard, Benicio Del Toro and Ricky Gervais - will be released in deux versions: one in French, and one for the philisitine dummies (yes, us English-speakers).
It hits cinemas in October next year, and an English trailer's no doubt minutes away. But in the meantime, grab some brie, a glass of Sancerre, and enjoy it like the French would.
