Australian screen veteran Jacki Weaver has scored a role in the latest historical epic about the assassination of US President John F Kennedy.
Weaver has signed on to star in Parkland alongside Hollywood heavyweights Paul Giamatti and Billy Bob Thornton, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Parkland, produced by Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, will recount the true story of the chaotic events that occurred at Parkland Hospital in Dallas on the day the US president was shot dead in 1963.
The film's release is timed to the 50th anniversary of the assassination.
Weaver, 63, has been in demand in Hollywood since her Oscar-nominated role in Australian film Animal Kingdom.
She recently starred in The Five Year Engagement and will play Robert De Niro's wife and Bradley Cooper's mum in The Silver Linings, due for release in Australia next year.
Weaver also recently signed on to play a role in horror movie Haunt.
