Alan Thicke proves he can still out-douche Robin

Once in a while you come across a family that has so much to give that you truly marvel at their generous spirits. That is how the press should feel about the Thickes.

As if modern culture hasn't benefited enough from Blurred Lines and an aggressive revival of the aviators and open shirt look, entertainer Alan Thicke (Robin's father) has just taken the trouble to show us how Robin Thicke turned out to be Robin Thicke.

The 66-year-old star,  best known for his role as the dad on Growing Pains, recently told US Weekly how proud he is of his son's "achievements". Now, cynics may see this as an attention-seeking move, but Alan is actually giving us a powerful insight into the minds of the Thickes. And a real reason to be thankful.

"It's amazing. It's a rocket ride," says Alan of the success of 'Blurred Lines'.  "I'm thrilled for him. I've always dabbled in music. If I could have grown up to be Robin Thicke, I would have. But I'm glad somebody in the family did."

In other words, we have actually been SPARED from two Robin Thickes in history. But don't dismiss papa just yet because he can still clearly out-douche everyone with a single piece of advice:

"I told [Robin], "You're a power couple now. If you only adopt a few Ethiopian kids, you'd be the next Brangelina."

Good one, Alan. Good one.

  • Never before have two men lived up to their name so well...Thicke by name, thick by nature.
