Anyone who has seen Yentl knows Mandy Patinkin can belt out a tune. But there's a difference between a show-stopping number and a totally disturbing, morally ambiguous siren song crooned in a high, falsetto voice by some kind of supernatural being. Because that is what Patinkin appears to be doing here on this very unsettling episode of Touched by an Angel. Watch the clip for yourself and when you're done, please consider these questions.
1.The chorus, 'no one is alone' sounds uplifting when we write it down so why is it so damned horrifying when he sings it?
2. At one point Patinkin appears in a black suit. Is he Lucifer masquerading as an angel? Because we wouldn't put it past him. (Lucifer that is - we know Mandy's on the level.)
3. At first it seems like the woman is considering suicide? But then there's an interlude with a scarf that turns into a dove that seems to set her free? But then she seems to go back again into suicidal thoughts? So just what in the hell happened in the end?
