Australian comedian Rebel Wilson's star continues to rise in the US but it's no thanks to the cold shoulder from her countryman Russell Crowe.
Doing nothing to dispel Crowe's prickly image, Wilson told US talkshow host Jay Leno the star once told her to ''f--- off''.
Speaking on The Tonight Show in New York, Wilson (pictured) said she saw Crowe and Nicole Kidman having dinner in Sydney and approached them because she had just been awarded the Nicole Kidman Scholarship at the Australian Theatre for Young People. It paid for her to fly to New York and study comedy. ''I go, 'OK, now's my chance, I'm going to say thank you','' she told Leno. ''But before I could say anything Russell Crowe just turns to me and says 'f--- off'.
''So I just put my head down and walked away. But thanks, Nicole.''
Wilson is on a winning ticket - she has just been added to the star-studded cast of Kung Fu Panda 3 and will host the MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles next week. ''I haven't really hosted anything before except for my own intervention for addiction to hard cheeses,'' she told Leno.
Meanwhile, Crowe is bush-bashing around Port Lincoln and Port Augusta in South Australia this week for no apparent reason other than ''some walking'' and ''lots of sweating'', according to his Twitter feed.
