Jessica - opposite the comic book hero she will play.
She's an actor little known here in her native Australia, but Jessica De Gouw is set to become something of a superstar in the pop culture world after landing the role of The Huntress in a new television adaptation of the adventures of DC Comics hero the Green Arrow. In Arrow, which premieres in the US in October, Stephen Amell plays vigilante Oliver Queen, a billionaire playboy who returns, after being stranded on a remote island for five years, to right the wrongs he made in his previous life, fighting crime armed only with a bow and arrow. Or arrows, to be exact, some of which are pretty tricked up. De Gouw, who appeared in last year's Underbelly and the upcoming Kath and Kimderella, will play Helena Bertinelli, the daughter of a crime boss who takes a dim view of the family business. She and Queen cross paths early in the series and become adversaries, then allies and possibly lovers. ''Helena is a potential love interest for Oliver Queen; a fellow vigilante, set on destroying her father's organized crime empire,'' the character's official description states. ''But Helena's blind pursuit of revenge will put her on a collision course with the Arrow."
