It’s the British Emmys, everyone! And when the BAFTAs, (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) screens on May 27, they’ll be more than a few nervous nellies, (we’re trying to sound English here, go with it).

 Maggie Smith has been nominated for best supporting actress her turn in Downton Abbey as Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham. Her co-star Hugh Bonneville also scored a nomination – for Male Performance in a Comedy Programme for Twenty Twelve, (it’s like the English version of The Games)

Stephen Rea, (remember him from The Crying Game?) has earned a nod for Best Supporting Actor in the thriller The Shadow Line while Jennifer Saunders has been nominated for Best Female Performance in a Comedy Programme for Absolutely Fabulous. There’s an Aussie inclusion, too with The Slap scoring a nod for best TV miniseries. It’s in a category simply marked “international” and, as such, is up against Modern Family so ...
