Big mistake. Huge. Leslie Jones told designers they'd regret it, and she wasn't lying.
The actress and comedian took to the red carpet at yesterday's Ghostbusters premiere in Los Angeles and stole the show in a red Christian Siriano gown, just weeks after she called out the fashion industry's reluctance to help her with a dress for the event.
I want to thank my baby @csiriano for making me this fabulous gown and for my wonderful stylist @bmcstylez for putting this look all together! "It's so funny how there are no designers wanting to help me with a premiere dress for [the] movie. Hmmm that will change and I remember everything," she tweeted last month.
The tweet launched an embarrassing defence from some stylists and fashion industry insiders, who blamed Jones for not being a "sample size" and said the lack of non-waifish options came down to "pure economics".
After hearing about Jones' ordeal, Siriano - the Project Runway champ, and a red carpet fave to celebs including Sarah Jessica Parker and Solange Knowles - quickly offered to take up the job, calling out his fellow designers on their outdated views.
"It shouldn't be exceptional to work with brilliant people just because they're not sample size. Congrats aren't in order, a change is," he wrote.
Following Jones' triumphant appearance last night, the internet was full of good tidings for those foolish designers who passed up the opportunity to dress her.
Jones spent the evening delightfully retweeting the best of them.
