Jon Hamm on the cover of Rolling Stone Photo: Rolling Stone
Jon Hamm covers Rolling Stone this month and we must say... the cover is just a tad underwhelming. How many times before have we seen him strike this (cliched) pose in retro gear? Sure, the top is a pleasing throwback but the sunglasses - ugh. Is this a 2013 magazine cover or the music clip for Life is a Highway? Because the cheese factor is weirding us out. Do we need to get you a harmonica, Jon?
Jon has a lot to say about a great many things, including his character, Don Draper "I remember talking to James Gandolfini about the end of The Sopranos," Hamm says. "It's taxing, being that terrible for so long" - and his underwear-free choice of lifestyle. You will remember that Jon is known for going commando - there are Tumblrs devoted to this fact. Just last week The New York Daily News 'reported' that an AMC 'insider' claimed that Hamm's, um, salami, (we went there) was now wreaking havoc on set.
“This season takes place in the 1960s, where the pants are very tight and leave little to the imagination,” a source told NYDN. “Jon’s impressive anatomy is so distracting that they politely insisted on underwear.”
Hamm's publicist claimed the whole thing was silly but, guys, he did not deny it.
And here's where Hamm himself weighs in, telling Rolling Stone
Most of it is tongue-in-cheek ... but it is a little rude. It just speaks to a broader freedom that people feel like they have — a prurience.
They're called 'privates' for a reason. I'm wearing pants, for f--'s sake. Lay off. I mean, it's not like I'm a f--g lead miner. There are harder jobs in the world. But when people feel the freedom to create Tumblr accounts about my c--k, I feel like that wasn't part of the deal ... But whatever. I guess it's better than being called out for the opposite.
We're not sure we know where he's going with the 'lead miner' reference but it sounds a lot like a character Channing Tatum might play - onstage at a strip club.
Thank you, thank you very much.
