He's an actor, a writer, a poet, a Huffington Post columnist, an artist and now we guess he can add music maker to that list? We won't go so far as to call him a singer because ... well, once you listen to his singing you will understand. James Franco has teamed up with with musician Tim O’Keefe to form a band called Daddy and, in case you missed it, they released an EP called MotorCity on September 25th. Yeah, we missed it too.

Well, anyway, “Can’t Say Goodbye” is the third video released from MotorCity. Franco explained how the genesis of the song came about to MTV.

“The song is really sad for me, actually. When I was in Detroit, my father died, so I wrote a song kind of about it. I feel like the lyrics aren’t super-explicit so it can be kind of a goodbye to anyone."

Well, now we don't know how to feel. On the one hand, that's an incredibly tragic thing for anyone - let alone a child - to have to go through and catharsis of any kind is an important part of the healing process. On the other hand, not everyone who loses a loved one has a singer's voice and no amount of grief and pain can turn a flat note into something Jennifer Hudson-worthy.

But perhaps it's not for us to judge. Why don't you check out the video below and, if nothing else, bathe in the nostalgia of Franco.
