Denzel Washington already has an Oscar for Training Day so it's not like he needs one or anything.
Flight, a drama about a pilot, (Denzel Washington) who miraculously lands a commercial aircraft, has not even been released yet and already it's gathering a storm of buzz.
Directed by Robert Zemeckis, (Forrest Gump, Back to the Future) Flight has been chosen to close the prestigious New York Film festival on October 14. Last year, the festival screened Martin Scorsese's Hugo as well as My Week With Marilyn and it’s seen by the industry as a very early indicator of Oscar success. But there is perhaps another strong, albeit unofficial, indicator: the use of the Rolling Stones' hit Gimme Shelter in the soundtrack. It's a song that's been played before in The Departed and Goodfellas, - both movies that won multiple Oscars, so as far as we're concerned, Flight looks like a shoe-in. Then again, that might just be Martin Scorsese.
Don Cheadle, John Goodman and Melissa Leo also star in the movie which opens here on February 7. Watch the trailer – what do you think? Statue-worthy?
