Drew Barrymore Explains daughter's name
Drew Barrymore on Ellen's show.
Drew Barrymore sat down with Ellen yesterday to discuss - what else? - her two and a half month baby daughter Olive. And that includes the reason behind her name.
"I never would have guessed that would have been the name. But I was reading a book with my husband, and I was three months pregnant. They said your baby is the size of an Olive and that was it.
"We never looked back."
Look, this is cute and all but a baby at different stages in the womb is variously described as 'pip', a 'sesame seed', and a 'bean', (thank you Kurt and Courtney). So why don't we hear more about these names? We're going to make an assumptive claim here and suggest it's because calling your kid 'sesame' doesn't really roll off the tongue. Which means it's more than just a descriptor that seals the deal for the name, yeah?
But why are we getting so grumpy over this? It's Drew! It's a healthy Baby! So let's forget our cynicism and instead go ahead and bust out the moves, Ellen-style in celebration of this fact.
