He is one of the world's biggest names in food right now, but it was a Sydney girl who stole New York chef David Chang's heart.
PS can reveal Gucci Sydney public relations executive, proud ''Aussie-Korean'' Gloria Lee, has become engaged to Chang, the founder of the successful Momofuku group of restaurants, stretching from Manhattan to Sydney.
Lee, who went to Pymble Ladies College and studied at the University of Sydney, previously worked as an assistant buyer at David Jones and as a fashion assistant for Madison.
She announced her engagement via Instagram over dinner at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, posting images of her huge diamond sparkler.
PS hears Lee flew out of Sydney this week bound for New York with Chang, who had been at his Sydney outpost on Australia Day.
While feted throughout food circles the world over, it was just last November Chang opined to The Wall Street Journal about his lot when it comes to a private life.
''For me now, the concept of home has to change. I'm working on that. I'm 35 and most of my friends are married with kids now; I'm still a bachelor. They have places in San Francisco or Hoboken or Brooklyn. I keep thinking, 'I'm like an 18-year-old kid.' ''
Clearly things have changed somewhat.
