This just in: Adam Brody, 33 is dating Leighton Meester, 26. And if this all turns out to be nothing more than a teenage dream fantasy sequence then do not - repeat - do not wake us up.
The actors, who costarred in 2011 dramedy The Oranges alongside Catherine Keener and Hugh Laurie, have been "hanging out," a source tells Us Magazine.
Meester, as you well know, has starred for the last six years as Blair Waldof in Gossip Girl. Gossip Girl, as you well know, is the co-creation of Josh Schwartz, the same guy who created The OC, the television show Adam Brody used to star in. Schwartz's original vision for Gossip Girl was that it would be the New York upper east side version of the cliquey gated communities of Orange County. Serena, (Blake Lively) was the Marissa, (Micha Barton) and Blair, (Leighton - try to keep up!) was the Summer, (Rachel Bilson).
Now here's where it gets really super awesome because Seth, (Adam Brody) dated Summer on the show and in real life. So now you might say that Adam is still dating Summer, just the NYC equivalent.
Boo and Ya.
Still not excited?
Well, maybe that's because you're not being honest with yourself. We all know you loved The OC. We know you maybe turned and started to hate it in the end but we know the only reason you kept watching it against your better judgment was Adam Brody. Because, let's face it, Mischa Barton's anemic portrayal of Marissa Cooper was pulling almost the entire show down with it. And by season 2 Ryan's penchant for saving pretty girls and beating up anyone who looked at Marissa sideways had worn thin. Sure, we always had Sandy, (Peter Gallagher) but who did Sandy have really? Kirsten? AKA Keeeirsten? That character rivaled even Marissa Cooper for blandness. But we could always rely on Adam, playing the witty king of pop culture and comic book references, Seth. Even more enjoyable was the aforementioned fact that Seth was dating his girlfriend Summer, (Rachel Bilson) in real life. And then, they grew apart. Hearts were broken. Some of us never recovered.
