Remember how good rainbow paddle pops were? Especially after a day on the beach? And when you didn't wear shoes all summer holidays? Zimmermann's 2012/13 spring summer collection was exactly this. Held in a beautifully airy and light-filled warehouse, the gelato colour palette of light pink, mint and florals made one hanker for summer. The easy breezy feel also extended to what you might describe as 'getting jiggy with the hole puncher'. Perforated skirts and vests had a sort of ring-pull feel, while fluttering streamers of silk added whimsy to hemlines. The label's signature prints and florals were out enmasse, worked especially well into cut-out togs (perhaps not designed for body surfing but definitely for parading up the beach) and pannelled frocks. A pink splatter print made some happy re-appearances. Meanwhile, a sheer blue hooded woolen maxi worked the sporty luxe vibe that's been vibing along throughout the week. Volume was played with, oversized sweatshirts and blousen tops were paired with slick floral trousers. Here a maxi, there a billlowing pair of cropped trousers. Ultimately, the clothes were sweet, frothsome. They'd make for a quite delightful day out indeed.
