Cruising with Chanel

At a push, if one is inclined to think of cruise attireit might conjure up such things as palazzo pants, navy and flowing, tropical themed kaftans. It is clothing to drink fruity drinks in and have steamy affairs and eat club sandwiches (always club sandwiches).

In Australia, labels such as Camilla with those endlessly colourful kaftans (beloved of course by Oprah herself), Suboo with its floating poolside attire and Zimmermann with its prints and togs just made to holiday in are ones to turn to in times of leisure.

Yet the super high-end labels can often be perplexing in its ranges of cruise attire.

Is it really comfortable to wear a stiff hoopla skirt to the beach? Does one really fancy wearing a Dracula-type collar with sandy feet at the bar? And what about won't someone think about the effect of wearing leather in the sun?

The Chanel cruise collection was a little bewildering with its Bo-Peep meets gothic vibe. But the boucle jackets were of course divine and the jewel encrusted swirly frock looked delicious.

Besides, if there is a call for excess it is at a couture collection held at the palace Versaille. Besides, Tilda and Vanessa were there. Let them wear frills!
