Well played, Vogue Germany. At a glorious 73 years old, uber diva Tina Turner has finally landed her first Vogue cover and the cover line says it all: “Simply The Best!” We cannot believe it’s taken this long.

The April 2013 issue sees the legendary singer rocking her signature honey blonde-highlighted ‘do and a silk navy blouse on its cover image, photographed by couple Claudia Knoepfel and Stefan Indlekofer and styled by Nicola Knels.

As Fashionista points out, Tina may be the oldest Vogue cover girl ever, snagging the title from Meryl Streep who graced the American glossy at 62 years old last year. The choice was a curious one for German Vogue, which tends to favour models-of-the-moment for its front-page features.

With over half a century in the spotlight, this septuagenarian turns ageism on its heels. We only hope they got her to flaunt those show stopping stems of hers inside.

The Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll has had many a stylish moment in her life – from that fringed gold micro-mini she sported on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1970, to that black jumpsuit she wore to Armani’s “One Night Only In Beijing” – but this move may very well top them all.
