L-R Laura Robson, Caroline Wozniacki and Maria Kirilenko.

Ever felt slightly hypnotised by the constant thwack of a tennis match? The global launch of Stella McCartney's barricade collection of tennis gear earlier this week kicked this up a notch. With three tennis champions - Caroline Wozniacki, Maria Kirilenko and Laura Robson - playing on a mirrored court (the world's first mirror court it must be said) wearing the new kit. The effect was kaliedoscopic.

The women - all of them ambassadors for adidas - will wear items from the Barricade collection in the Australian Open and other 2013 grand slams.

Taking into account the need for functionality as well as aesthetics, the range uses ClimaLITE technology which keeps body temperatures at an optimal level and comes in a range of structured dresses and separates.

With a palette of yellow, blue and white with shots of silver the feel is body con, minimalist and feminine.

The range's focus on the female form is something that Caroline Wozniacki - who this tournament is opting for more feminine looks- appreciates,

"I like the tight fitting stuff, and the figure hugging looks. I like to wear dresses too. I will be wearing a lot of dresses," she says.

Tennis, says the Danish Wozniacki, is one of the sports where fashion is relished.

"Women's fashion and tennis is big. So many of the girls look good on the court and try out new oufits," she says.

Stella McCartney said of the range,

“Tennis really is one of the sport disciplines I design that can really house feminine styles with high performance. We achieve this with our use of colour and cut, as well as using the latest technology."

Prices range from $80 to $180 and is available from adidas stores, selected Rebel Sport stores and speciality Tennis stores. Call 1800 801 891 for stockists.
