Oh boy, the dresses at this year's Met Gala - otherwise known as the fashion Oscars/best night in fashion - sure were, well, interesting. Between Madonna forgetting to wear pants, Jessica Pare's choice of billowing purple smock and jodphurs and everybody trying to get on-board with the "punk" theme, it made for one heck of a photo gallery. See here! Nods to the punk theme included smattering of lace, the odd safety pin and a few studs and spikes thrown in for good measure. Punk might be back, but there's not much room for it on the red carpet. But it was pleasing to see Sienna Miller give the theme a good crack. Sure he languid, slinky white frock isn't exactly anti-establishment, but that spiky leather motorcycle jacket and slightly scary headpiece is on right on theme. And it creates an unnerving - in a good way! - aesthetic that blends tough with capital F fashion.
