Kerry Washington, Golden Globes awards, January 2013
Frock watching at some of these big ol' red carpet awards can be a blood sport. Because, let's face it, some of the dresses can be really awful *wicked cackle tinged with bitterness*. Nevertheless, this Golden Globes there were some truly excellent frocks. I'm going to say it is because two of my personal heroes - Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, obviously - were hosting. And awesomeness is probably contagious. Anyway. It was hard to pick a favourite. Highlights included Naomi Watts in dramatic plum, Jessica Chastain's retro glamour and Amy Poehler and Tina Fey in anything. However my favourite was Kerry Washington who was wearing a deceptively great dress. Initially you might think that it doesn't look like much. But look closer and there is sophisticated sequins and beading, and sheerness, and an interesting above the ankle hemline. Totally digging the pointy pumps too.
