The talk-show host, writer, producer and champion crowd dancer adds yet another line to her resume – childrenswear designer.
Ellen DeGeneres is teaming up with Gap to create GapKids x ED, promising a collection of girls' clothing that isn't too heavy on the pink and purple princess-y vibes.
According to DeGeneres, the poster child for women who hate wearing dresses, the clothes are designed "to encourage young girls to pursue their passion, whether it's math, science, sports or the arts." She describes the partnership as "an apparel collection and social movement … designed to help all girls realise they have the power to do extraordinary things."
With their properly #normcore looks – tailored trousers, crisp shirting, preppy jumpers and white sneakers – Ellen DeGeneres and Gap seem like a match made in style heaven. And with a clear hole in the childrenswear market for girl-empowering, delightfully tomboyish options, well, we couldn't be more excited.
Also, let's not forget that last time Ellen did something with Gap, it was pretty wonderful.
GapKids x ED will include a full girls' collection, including tops, bottoms and outerwear, plus items for boys and adults.
The collection drops on August 17 here. A good thing Gap.com delivers to Australia!
