Once upon a time, drink bottles, key rings and bedroom posters were about as exciting as movie memorabilia got. But the fan fervour surrounding the latest box-office hits and TV series, such as The Hunger Games, True Blood and the yet-to-be-released The Great Gatsby, has motivated a handful of beauty companies to launch limited edition makeup and nail polish collections inspired by the screen.

If you’re a die-hard True Blood devotee, how’s this for a teaser? Celebrity manicurist Deborah Lipmann recently teamed up with the Home Shopping Network (HSN) to create a vampire-themed beauty line inspired by the hit series. Set to launch in the States next month, it boasts all the trappings necessary for a beauty revamp, including a perfume, body powder, body cream and lipstick, plus six nail polishes inspired by the female characters. Although there’s little sign of the line heading down under, we’re predicting Trubie’s (that’s True Blood Groupies to the uninitiated) the world over will be scouring the web to get their hands on the Sookie-inspired shade of nude polish, aptly named New Flesh, which is about as summery as vampire-approved makeup gets.

Moving on to flicks and it was only a matter of minutes before some manner of beauty loot was created in honour of The Hunger Games. Enter China Glaze who announced earlier this year the release of the Colours Of The Capitol, a 12-strong collection of lacquers inspired by the wealthy city of the Capitol of Panem. In keeping with the citizens of Capitol and their flair for fashion and decadent attire, there’s no shortage of shimmer or sparkle in the range, with creamy, matte and metallic shades in rich hues, like orange, olive green and grey, the standouts. If you only buy one varnish to commemorate the show, make it this metallic taupe number, (below): China Glaze Nail Lacquer in Fast Track, from $13.95, (02) 8667 1700.

Speaking of metallics, the latest The Amazing Spider-Man collaboration from OPI is enough to leave manicure mavens scaling the walls for more. To celebrate the launch of the action-packed flick, OPI has created a wardrobe of nail lacquers that go beyond the hero shades of navy and red to also include a rose-pink and crisp white polish that have everything, from a night on the prowl to brunch with the girls, covered. They're $19.95 each, 1800 358 999 - below.

Now, all we’re waiting on is a hair extension line inspired by the Game Of Thrones and we’ll be set.
